Solving the individual needs of different applications often requires different technological solution sets. Microtrac addresses these varying needs through a collection of products to provide Total Solutions in Zeta Potential Analysis.
Zetapotential (ZP), streaming current potential (SCP), colloid vibration potential (CVP) are different names for the electrostatic repulsion potential at the Particle Interface (PIP) depending on the measurement method applied. Many users question which is the better or more correct measurement paramater. In fact, no PIP alone at a given state of the dispersion (pH, conductivity, temperature) reflects the full charge behavior of the sample. Only a titration mirrors the full character of a dispersion in respect to any variation of the ionic environment surrounding the particles.
StabiSizer - Charge Monitoring for coagulation & Stability Optimization
There are two main application areas where charge has to be monitored. In one of them the dispersion is intended to be destabilized for separation purposes, for example when recycling water. The other application is the optimization of dispersion stability. In both cases a poly-electrolyte or a pH titration is required either to find the point of zero charge or to find the stable regions, respectively. The coagulation of particles occurs at the point where the potential is zero. The stability regions are represented in the flat parts of the titration curve where the potential is highest, in an absolute sense. By running a full titration analysis of the sample, researchers can determine the conditions that provide best stability for an end product. Concurrent monitoring of particle size completes the picture of colloid or emulsion stability.
Zetatrac - Three Measurements, One Instrument
Zeta potential, particle size, and molecular weight are all determined simultaniously on each sample thanks to the melding of Nanotrac's dynamic light scattering principles along with Microtrac's unique Modulated Power Spectrum (a component of the power spectrum resulting from the oscillating particles) technological advancement to produce Zetatrac. Combine the Zetatrac Analyzer with the Zetrator Automatic Charge Titration module to complete this Total Solution.
Zetaview - Seeing is Believing
With the Microtrac Zetaview classical micro-electrophoresis has a modern tool to study the interface behavior of colloid particles. “Seeing is believing” is the principle of the Zetaview visualizing both electrophoretic and Brownian motion in a laser scattering microscope. Multimodal Zetapotential and size histograms can be derived from the analysis of thousands of individual particles in a routine way. The overall size ranges from 80 nm to 10 μm. The Zetrator Automatic Charge Titration module can be combined with Zetaview to provide the Ultimate Solution for your zeta potential analysis needs.
