You might not realize it, but Microtrac’s play a significant role in ensuring the food products we consume on a daily basis meet specified flavor profiles.

A lot of science and engineering goes into the production of the food we enjoy.  Although we play a small role in a much larger picture, certifying that the material stays within a defined particle size distribution is a vital part of the process.

Microtrac is proud to be participating in the 2015 version of the International Food Technology meeting and expo, commonly referred to as IFT.  The conference takes place from 7/11 to 7/15.  Held at McCormick Place, in Chicago, Illinois, IFT brings together food science professionals from around the world to discuss the latest and greatest developments in the industry.

Bluewave – Ideal for multi-mode distributions that consist of nanoparticles and micron sized particles, the Bluewave is the first laser diffraction particle size analyzer to use blue laser diodes for measuring dry powders and wet suspensions.  Taking full advantage of the blue lasers shorter wavelength, the Bluewave provides users with superior resolution on both the low end and high end of the distribution.  Measuring from 10 nanometers to 2800 microns, the Bluewave can also be integrated with a dynamic image analyzer to visually validate agglomeration.

PartAn3d Patented 3D technology provides users with comprehensive size and morphology information. By utilizing high speed, high-resolution cameras, the PartAn captures multiple pictures of a single particles orientation, enabling accurate length, width, and thickness measurement.  Our 3D analysis allows users to gain a deeper understanding of how morphology affects material quality, providing organizations with information that enables them to be proactive rather than reactive.  The PartAn can measure particles ranging in size from 4 microns to several inches.

Sieve replacement technology ideal for the food science community will be on display at IFT 2014.

Microtrac, the global pioneer of particle characterization solutions will be displaying sieve replacement technology ideal for the food science community at the 2014 International Food Technology Exhibition, or commonly referred to as IFT.

IFT is the largest collection of food industry suppliers ranging from raw materials to equipment manufacturers.  The 2014 rendition will be held from June 22-24 at the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Located at booth 407, Microtrac will be displaying the following particle analysis instrumentation:

PartAn 3D – formally the DIA, the PartAn 3D is the only dynamic image analyzer on the market that can measure particles in 3D!  Our patented approach allows a user to create detailed profiles of their particles by truly understanding which size and shape parameters are affecting the quality of the material being measured.  By utilizing a high-speed, high-resolution camera and particle tracking software, the PartAn 3D can measure particles ranging in size from 15 microns to 30 millimeters and repot 30 morphological parameters, compared to sieves only being able to measure one parameter.  In addition to the robustness of the PartAn 3D, the instrument is also user independent, more durable, and significantly quieter than mechanical sieves.

PartAn 3D PRO – The PartAn 3D PRO is the online version of the PartAn 3D.  The instrument can be integrated into any process and features automatic sample delivery devices to ensure the proper amount of material is being analyzed.  Featuring an enclosed optical chamber and a compressed air flow system, the PartAn 3D PRO virtually cleans itself, which reduces costly production downtime.

Bluewave SI – Are you worried about particle agglomeration?  If so, the Bluewave SI is the right instrument for you!  The Bluewave SI combines laser diffraction with image analysis, which allows a user to visually validate the material by taking snap shots of what particulate is being measured.  The Bluewave SI can measure the size of particles ranging from 10 nanometers to 2000 microns with the diffraction portion, and measure shape parameters on particles ranging in size from 5 to 1500 microns.  The Bluewave SI can measure 29 morphological parameters

Particle Characterization for Food Technology IFT 2013

Microtrac, the global pioneer of particle characterization will be featuring several systems from their industry preferred product line at the Institute of Food Technology’s annual expo.  Understanding particle characterization data has become increasingly important in the food technology industry, and Microtrac’s instruments provide insight to the challenging questions that plague the food technology community.

The IFT expo is the food industries largest collection of food ingredients, equipment, processing, and packaging suppliers, all showcasing their products and processes in one location.  IFT 2013 is taking place at McCormick Place South in beautiful down town Chicago, from July 14th to 16th.

Microtrac will be featuring the following particle characterization systems at booth 559:

Bluewave – The Bluewave is the first laser diffraction particle size analyzer to use blue laser diodes for material characterization.  By using blue lasers, end-users are able to analyzer their sample with unsurpassed resolution and repeatability.   The Bluewave measures particles ranging in size from .01 to 2800 microns.   The Bluewave has the ability to measure either wet or dry samples, and can be upgraded with a host of sample delivery devices.

SI – The SI is a photo-optical image analysis system that works in conjunction with the Bluewave or S3500 laser diffraction particle size analyzer.  By combining laser diffraction with image analysis, end users are able to understand particle size distribution data as well as identify what physical parameters have an effect on the quality of the material being analyzed.  The SI can measure particles ranging in size from 1 to 1000 microns.

DIA – The DIA is a dynamic image analyzer that has the unique ability to view particles in 3D.  Able the measure 25 physical parameter, the DIA is a time saving alternate to sieve analysis with the added benefits of viewing particles in 3D.

Nanotrac Wave – The Nanotrac Wave is a dynamic light scattering system used to characterize nanoparticles.  Able to measure particles ranging in size from .8 to 6500 nanometers, the Nanotrac Wave also has the ability to measure Zeta Potential and Molecular Weight.

Stabino  – New from Microtrac, the Stabino is a particle charge titration device that brings a host of advancements to Zeta Potential analysis.  With a built in titrator, forward titrations are completed in 5 minutes, which saves users approximately 85 minutes of analysis time.  Imagine what you could do with an additional 85 minutes of time!  The Stabino does not require information on optical parameters, simply load your material and begin analysis.  Another feature of the Stabino is bubbles have no effect on the outcome of the analysis.   Additional features include a touch screen interface, slot for 180° DLS analyzer, and does not require the use of consumables.
