Cryogenic Temperature Controller BELCRYO X

Cryogenic Temperature Controller BELCRYO X Wider Control – Greater Stability – Optimized for Adsorption Experiments

  • Wide Temperature Control: Enables broad temperature control for optimal adsorption conditions without the need for coolants such as liquid nitrogen (35 K to 473 K)
  • Excellent Temperature Stability: Maintains target temperature with outstanding stability during long measurements (±0.001 K to ±0.01 K)
  • Unlimited Adsorption Measurement Time: No time restrictions, allowing completion of various adsorption measurements
  • Simultaneous Measurement of Three Samples: Up to three samples can be measured at the same time
  • Integration with BELSORP Series: Achieves seamless, fully automated measurement from pretreatment to analysis using BELControl software dedicated to the BELSORP series
  • Safety Features: Fail-safe safety measures during low- to high-temperature control
  • Easy Sample Handling: Simple loading and removal of samples
  • Highly Reproducible Data Acquisition: Enables reliable characterization of porous materials (BET, pore size distribution, differential heat of adsorption), measurement of adsorption isotherms for various gases (gas storage evaluation, gas separation performance), and detailed adsorption phenomena (in-situ measurements combining XRPD and gas adsorption), ensuring high-quality, reproducible data

Cryo-Sample Cells – This sample cell is specifically designed for use with BELCRYO X and is ideally suited for powder and pellet samples

Aluminium Gasket – Use aluminium gaskets to prevent leaks at the sample port

BELCRYO X offers a wide range of temperature control and precise temperature stability, enabling BET and pore size distribution by high-quality data for adsorption isotherms across different cryogenic conditions (e.g, N2@77.4K, Ar@87.3K, CO2@195K, CO2@273K, etc.)

With conventional methods, evaluating the isosteric heat of adsorption at cryogenic temperatures required multiple adsorption isotherms within a narrow temperature range, which was technically challenging and time-consuming. BELCRYO X revolutionizes this process by enabling precise measurements at arbitrary temperatures for various gases—making accurate isosteric heat evaluation simpler, faster, and more flexible than ever before.

Example: N2 isosteric heat evaluation at 77.4 K using adsorption isotherms at 77.4 K, 82.4 K, and 87.4 K.

BELCRYO X enables efficient studies of hydrogen and methane storage at cryogenic temperatures, as well as CO₂ capture and storage (CCS). Furthermore, when combined with systems such as BELSORP MAX X HP, BELCRYO X allows the acquisition of adsorption isotherms across a wide range of temperatures and pressures—from low to high—providing essential baseline data for gas separation performance evaluation (PSA/TSA/PTSA). This flexibility makes BELCRYO X a powerful tool for cutting-edge material and process development.

Rapid BET Measurement & Evaluation Software BELCONTROL

BELCRYO X operates via the BELControl software platform, common to all BELSORP series (BELSORP MAX X, HP/HT, MAX G, MINI X).

Main functions include:

  • Cryo-sample cell edition settings
  • Measurement parameter settings for determination of specimens’ numbers, pretreatment condition, measurement pressure regions (ads/des)
  • Fully automatic seamless measurement from pretreatment to measurement
  • Graphical display of temperature stability and adsorption/desorption isotherms
