High-Precision Cryogenic Unit BELCRYO X

High-Precision Cryogenic Unit BELCRYO X Wider Control – Greater Stability – Optimized for Adsorption Experiments

  • Wide Temperature Control: Enables broad temperature control for optimal adsorption conditions without the need for coolants such as liquid nitrogen (35 K to 473 K)
  • Excellent Temperature Stability: Maintains target temperature with outstanding stability during long measurements (±0.001 K to ±0.01 K)
  • Unlimited Adsorption Measurement Time: No time restrictions, allowing completion of various adsorption measurements
  • Simultaneous Measurement of Three Samples: Up to three samples can be measured at the same time
  • Integration with BELSORP Series: Achieves seamless, fully automated measurement from pretreatment to analysis using BELControl software dedicated to the BELSORP series
  • Safety Features: Fail-safe safety measures during low- to high-temperature control
  • Easy Sample Handling: Simple loading and removal of samples
  • At-A-Glance Monitoring: An intuitive LCD touch panel display provides real-time visibility of the control temperature, vacuum level of the vacuum-insulated chamber, and the status of the heaters and the cryocooler.
  • Seamless Measurement: Fully automated operation from pretreatment to measurement can be performed through the dedicated BELControl software for the BELSORP series

Cryo-Sample Cells – This sample cell is specifically designed for use with BELCRYO X and is ideally suited for powder and pellet samples

Aluminium Gasket – Use aluminium gaskets to prevent leaks at the sample port

A wide range of adsorption isotherms can be measured under various temperature conditions (e.g., N2 at 77.4 K, Ar at 87.3 K, CO2 at 273 K), which can be directly used for BET surface area determination and pore size distribution analysis using advanced GCMC / QSDFT models.

With conventional methods, evaluating the isosteric heat of adsorption at cryogenic temperatures required multiple adsorption isotherms within a narrow temperature range, which was technically challenging and time-consuming. BELCRYO X revolutionizes this process by enabling precise measurements at arbitrary temperatures for various gases—making accurate isosteric heat evaluation simpler, faster, and more flexible than ever before.

Example: N2 isosteric heat evaluation at 77.4 K using adsorption isotherms at 77.4 K, 82.4 K, and 87.4 K.

By combining BELCRYO X with instruments such as the BELSORP MAX X HP, a wide range of gas adsorption isotherms – including hydrogen and methane storage studies and CO2 separation – is obtainable across a broad temperature range and pressure conditions, from cryogenic to high temperature and from low to high pressure.

Common Operation Software for BELSORP Series BELCONTROL

BELCRYO X operates via the BELControl software platform, common to all BELSORP series (BELSORP MAX X, HP/HT, MAX G, MINI X).

Main functions include:

  • Cryo-sample cell edition settings
  • Measurement parameter settings for determination of specimens’ numbers, pretreatment condition, measurement pressure regions (ads/des)
  • Fully automatic seamless measurement from pretreatment to measurement
  • Graphical display of temperature stability and adsorption/desorption isotherms
